Yay New Art!

OH Wow! New Steven Art! I just plain forgot to post this on Sunday. Weird. Looks It's Steven! And Hey, Steven. Nothing too say really, just a headshot sketch. Well there's also the fact that this is the first new Unfed art drawn in over two years. I guess that's kinda important to mention.

It was a book. Did you buy it? Doubtful.

A while back (and I mean a while back) I joined forces with fellow artist Scott Hume to put together a book that housed previews of books we were working on at the time that both featured Zombies. Called "The Family feast Edition" It put together Unfed and Zombilly (Scott's rockabilly zombie story) we sold it at the Toronto Comic Convention I guess two years ago now. I created one new piece of art for the project and I'm posting it here for the first time seen outside of the actual book (which had maybe 30 copies tops)whether Scott likes it or not haha. The image in question features Steven just kinda freaked out with Vinnie the scumbag musician. The story in the comic was the 6 page preview comic from the end of school. When are you gonna see that preview? Sooner than you think...

Here's that art:

Scott's art blog can be seen in the links on the side there. Check it.

Hungry for More

It's been nearly two years since I last updated this blog. Although there's been nothing new going on this blog, that doesn't mean I haven't been thinking of this project at all. As a matter of fact, I reread the second (Actually 25th) issue's script just today and man, did that relight the fire. There's actually been a few things that have led to my interest returning highly in this. First off, a conversation with another artist telling me he wanted to see some work from me printed in book form. I then showed him the six page Unfed promo comic that I made with the finish of my course.

Sending him the pdf of it and he read it offering this delightful review of the material: "Well, that was a fucking cock tease. your comic teased my cock." Comments like that kinda renew interest. Also someone read the actual physical copy I hold in my sweaty hands up there and they had a similar, if less profane review. There's also something about having a book with your work in it that looks so nice too. So I will be updating some material in the coming weeks. Rather than just blow my wad in one go, I'll take some time with it, so now, I will update anything I happen to have on Sundays. Why Sundays? I dunno, it's just a week from today, which is when I happened to post this. Will you see HUGE Jumps in the making of this? Probably not, but hey, if I can even keep a single sketch up a week that's a step in making this project. And that's a good thing.

So till next week... um... eat brains?

The Cover

Hey look! The cover to the book! Awesome! It's Andrea holding a big ol bag of... well let's just say that's NOT grease. Anyway, work on the book's coming along great. Hopefully by next week you should see The final version of the mini comic. The preview. Then I can get to work on the meat of it, the final version. Whoo hoo! I'll post the colours when I have a chance.

A PANEL

To tease you with. A panel off one of the first pages.
What's Steven so shocked by? Could it be... *gasp* ZOMBIES???

More to come soon...

New Art! New CHARACTER!

Yeah, it's been a while since I've posted, but here's some new work. First up, a new sketch of Don, Steven's boss. I like the way his design looks. I might make his eyes a little more beady. He's supposed to be kind of a super jerk.

Also at the bottom there is the Uniform for the unbelievably creative name of Unfed's fast food restaurant "Coffee n' Donuts." Awesome. There will be a colour test for it later in the week.

Finally, the New character. ANDREA. What is with me and that name? There's an Andrea in MSC (who this character is not based on), and I know like three of them. Anyways, here's Andrea. The script describes her as "so freaking hot Don let's her get away with wearing her uniform not to standard so he can check her out". What a perv that Don is. I kinda based her one that one girl, you know, the one at work you secretly like but never ask her out because she's too busy telling you stories of her sexual exploits. Huzzah. Anyway, expect more during the week.

Humans!

Well last time I posted some pics they were of some of the undead mofos of this piece. This time it's time for some live mofos.

First up Steven. Steven's the main character. He's essentially a really cocky guy. He's funny, but also a jerk. The kind of guy you like to have at work, but not around your friends. Even though he's supposed to be kind of a higher up in his job I made him rather slacky. Note the untucked shirt. Buttons undone. I still need to come up with a uniform for the coffee shop they work out of. I also decided to make him kind of thin. Lanky even. He's not fat but he sure isn't athletic.

Next we have Don. He's that big bristly mustached bastard up there. He's Steven's boss and a real hot head. I wanted to make him that "boss" we all have had. Short sleeved collared shirt. Tie. Bad comb over. Scott suggested to me that I make him sweat profusely. I'm putting a shirt pocket with a big ol hankey in it for him to wipe his forehead with. More sketches as they come.

To get you in the mood...

This is an excerpt from World War Z by Max Brooks. This is one of the best description of Zombies ever. Have a listen. By the way, "Zack" is code for Zombie in the lingo of the book.
